FLYING DRONES

 

The Drone & Model Aircraft Code and guide is available to all online at:

https://register-drones.caa.co.uk/drone-code

 

Please be aware it is against the law to fly a drone or model aircraft without having the required IDs. You can also be fined for breaking the law when flying. In the most serious case, you could be sent to prison.

 

The Code covers everything you need to know to pass the test to get a flyer ID. This is the starting point for anyone wanting to fly a drone or model aircraft in the UK.

 

The Code also sets out detail of flight restriction zones (FRZ) around airports and military bases. Please be aware that Pickhill and Sinderby are literally surrounded by “no fly” zones, due to their close proximity to operational military bases at Leeming, Topcliffe, etc.

A message from RAF Leeming: RAF Leeming will soon be entering a period of exercise hosting, during which there will be additional jet and helicopter movement. The local community can expect increased flying from 20 August to 2 October - including some night flying. We understand that Exercises can cause disturbance to the local community, and endeavour to minimise low and late flying in particular.
